Safety & Security
Replacement of the remaining light poles @ Steele High School. The existing poles have had several failures over the past couple of years.
Installation of electronic access control at all remaining exterior entry points for each campus. The district provides all local law enforcement officers access badges to aid in emergency response. Completing the installation at all exterior entry points will allow law enforcement to enter the building at any point.
Replacement of the fire alarm system at select campuses to meet the district standard replacement cycle of 15 years. This replacement will also bring the alarm system up to current fire safety code.
Expansion of the cafeteria at Clemens High School to match Steele High School. The Clemens cafeteria currently seats about 300 students while the Steel cafeteria seats about 800. Expanding this space will allow all students during a lunch an inside space to eat and occupy during an emergency situation.
Replacement of the public address (PA) system at select campuses to meet the district standard replacement cycle of 15 years. The PA system is used for communications on a daily basis but is also part of emergency response.
Installation of a secure vestibule entry and additional parking at the Marion Dolford Learning Center (MDLC). MDLC is the last facility in the district to be without a controlled vestibule for visitor entry. MDLC also serves as the District's central professional development site. Currently MDLC has about 100 parking spaces for staff, but staff attending professional development must park throughout the adjacent neighborhood and walk to the site. There are no sidewalks in this neighborhood, so staff must use the streets for their routes.
Replacement of physical key system @ all campuses except Rose Garden and Clemens. This replacement will move the District to a more secure key system and allow a single key access for first responders in the event of an emergency.
Addition of a new student parking lot @ Clemens High School outside of the perimeter of the campus. Currently, students park inside the perimeter and have access to their vehicle all day. With an open lunch policy this also creates pedestrian versus vehicle travel situations throughout the day.
Learning Environment
Replacement of elementary playgrounds. This project includes replacing the actual play equipment following the district standard replacement cycle of 20 years. The project replaces the mulch fall material with synthetic turf to match our newest campuses Rose Garden and Cibolo Valley. The synthetic turf fall areas also provides a consistent surface regardless of the weather conditions. The project will also provide new shade covers that will extend over the equipment to help keep the equipment cooler on hot days.
Replacement of the intermediate play areas. This project includes replacing the actual play equipment following the district standard replacement cycle of 20 years. The project replaces the mulch fall material with synthetic turf to match our newest campuses Rose Garden and Cibolo Valley. Shade covers will extend over the equipment to keep the equipment cooler on hot days. The project also creates a youth size synthetic turf play field to replace the current dirt play area students use.
Renovation and addition to the fine arts spaces at Steele High School. This project adds additional square footage to create a larger band hall and separate spaces for orchestra and choir. The project will also add storage space for for the band program. This project will bring parity with the improvements made at Clemens High School with the 2016 Bond.
Renovation and addition to the Career and Technical Education (CTE) spaces at Steele High School. This project creates new function specific spaces for CTE classes that are currently operating in standard classrooms. It will also add additional space to the culinary program. This project will bring parity with the improvements made at Clemens High School with the 2016 Bond.
Replacement and upgrades of CTE equipment across secondary campuses to make sure it meet industry standards, including kitchen equipment, 3D printers, and health science lab equipment such as beds and specialized medical equipment, as well as CNC plasma machines, welders, and floral coolers. Addition of flexible lab storage at junior high campus. Acquisition of drones and robotics equipment for both junior high and high school programs. Acquisition of student transportation vehicles and related infrastructure (such as animal trailers) for use in CTE.
Replace fine arts equipment and band infrastructure districtwide. Replacements include instruments that have passed their useful life-cycle, elementary through high school and improvement of high school marching band instruction/observation towers. Other projects include an additional kiln, replacement or improvement of high school auditorium and blackbox lighting, and junior high stage lighting.
Installation of large circulation fans at gymnasiums across the District that do not currently have fans.
Renovations to Dobie Junior High will include painting, flooring, ceilings, lighting, and restrooms. This project also includes the installation of synthetic turf to the play field. Because Dobie is built on a small site, this field represents the only open play area for all student use by the campus. The installation of the turf will provide a safe, consistent surface for daily use by the students.
Replacement of gym and cafetorium sound systems at all campuses. These spaces are used for competitions, performances and community meetings.
Renovation and equipment replacement at Toby Conner Ag Complex. This project includes additional parking for students, parents, and CTE trailer fleet. Equipment updates and renovations to the swine, cattle, poultry, lambs and goat areas. Replace animal pens, lockers, flooring to improve bedding options, updating HVAC unit in poultry barn, and watering and electricity relocating. Shade/turn out for outside cattle area. Improving cattle and swine wash rack area. Updating lighting for all barns, and lights for cattle clipping area.
Replacement and/or enhancement of physical education equipment districtwide including Steele Auxiliary Gym bleachers, Steele weight room equipment/flooring, scoreboards, goalposts, track pits, storage, washers and dryers, and ice machines.
Replacement of physical education areas at Clemens High School. Portions of the current building are original construction 1966. Replacement and expansion of the area will add dressing room and locker space, coaches offices, weightroom, weight room equipment, and training space and for our large student programs.
Infrastructure
Replacement of HVAC systems across the District to meet industry standard replacement cycles of 15-20 years. Replacements will include chiller systems at our larger campuses like Steele, Clemens, Corbett and Dobie. Full system replacements of split DX systems at Sippel, Wiederstein, and Schertz, and rooftop units at Allison Steele, DAEP, and Marion Dolford Learning Center. The gym HVAC systems will also be replaced at Watts, Wilder, Jordan, Paschal, and Green Valley. Many of these system are past their industry standard life cycle.
Replacement of domestic hot water heaters for kitchens, restrooms and locker rooms at multiple campuses to meet the district standard replacement of 15 years.
Replacement of transportation fleet vehicles to meet the district standard replacement cycle of 15 years or 150,000 miles. Also included is the replacement of the transportation fuel tanks that have passed their industry standard life cycle of 20-30 years.
This project makes repairs to site drainage at several campuses. Dobie Junior High will receive the most extensive repairs to allow the campus to drain properly during rain events. Currently, when it rains our portable classrooms become inaccessible until the water can drain over a several hour period. Green Valley is another campus that will have repairs to allow proper drainage of the retaining wall on the east side of the parking lot. Minor improvements will be completed at several other campuses to ensure water drains away from the campus foundation.
The roofing project at Watts, Wilder, and Jordan are to complete watertight restoration including replacement of fasteners, penetration boots, and sealants. Dobie Junior High includes a partial roof replacement and Steele High School includes a full room replacement. Both of these replacements follow meeting industry standard replacements of 25 years.
Replacement of technology infrastructure equipment including servers, communication cabling, wireless access points, switches, and office/classroom telephone systems connected to the district network to meet district standard replacement cycles of 10-15 years.
This project will make repairs to the entrance road of Schlather Intermediate School. The soil at Schlather has a very high PVR (potential vertical rise). This type of soil expands and contracts causing damage to roadways much like we see all around the community.
This paving project will make repairs to the band lot to support a consistent practice area for the program.
PROP B
STADIUM facilities

Renovations to Lehnhoff Stadium will include improvements to safety and security for fans and participants, new concessions and restroom areas, seating capacity increase from the current 5,800 to 9-10,000, replacement of the sound system and scoreboard, replacement of the field lighting with LED fixtures, replacement of turf and track surfaces, and improvements to accessibility.
This project replaces the the synthetic turf at the stadium for Steele High School to meet industry standard replacement cycles.
This project installs synthetic turf at the stadium for Corbett Junior High. With high levels of student use and consistent drought in our area, It has become increasingly difficult to maintain the current natural turf and meet safety standards for play.
